I've always really enjoyed true crime and forensics so I had to try this book. A few famous cold cases (the Golden State Killer mostly, with mentions of Jaycee Dugard, Lacy Peterson, the East Bay Slayer, etc.) are highlighted in between a biographical account of the author's time as a forensic investigator. Overall a well-written book and a very interesting look into some famous cold cases. The cases profiled here are the more publicized homicides, I would be interested to read about some of the less well known cases. There was quite a bit more detail about the author's marriages/family life and career path than the cases he investigated. I wouldn't have minded more details about the cases, and step-by-step look into the forensics and investigative process rather than so much biographical background. It is more a memoir with true crime being secondary, but a good read just the same.
