This extract really sets the scene for what seems to be an extremely eye opening book/memoir about the life of a detective, a detective who it seems puts his work first in all instances. It really makes you consider how hard it must be to separate your work from your personal life when it involves putting families at peace and resolving what happened to their loved ones. The author does not keep anything back and really shows how dedicated he is to the work despite the difficulties it had on his personal relationships. This book seems like a must read for anyone who is interested in true crime (everybody surely!). I am really looking forward to reading this book in full upon release after reading this first look, it’s exceptionally written. We all love honesty when reading memoirs and this really is a no holes barred account of a life surrounded by the horrors of serious crime.
