This one was a really intriguing memoir. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but lovers of true crime will definitely want to check this one out.

I really enjoyed this book. I think it's important in terms of a review to make it clear that this definitely reads more like a memoir than other non-fiction true crime reads, which may not appeal to all readers. I personally found it compelling to hear Paul Holes' perspective on the cases he worked. He doesn't shy away from highlighting the times his hunch was wrong, but takes readers down the path of why he got so invested in a certain suspect and what he learned from the experience of a crushing realization that the suspect wasn't your guy.

As I said, this book definitely isn't for the faint of heart. Paul Holes is a DNA and evidence guy, so he describes some very upsetting crime scenes that not everyone would be interested to read about. I won't go into detail myself, but readers should approach with some caution.
