I’m a huge fan of Paul Holes and have been eagerly awaiting his memoir. This sneak peek sets the stage for what’s in store - a look back at Mr. Holes career with Contra Costa County, his relentless pursuit of justice for victims and their families, and the toll that his career had on himself and his relationship with his family.

The cover perfectly embodies what I expect to see in a true crime book. The mostly grey-scale color scheme, the torn paper on top of a fingerprint card. I would definitely pick this book up if I saw it on a shelf in my local bookstore or library based on the cover alone.

I have been drawn to true crime and cold case for decades. For me, the lure is seeing the perpetrator caught, giving some kind of closure to the family. Mr. Holes works tirelessly to find answers. He is known of course for his work on the Golden State Killer case. This first look touches on that but also many more of his cases, as well as his personal life. I loved getting this sneak peek; I can’t wait to read more!
