In this raw novel, Paul Holes gives us a look inside his life as a homicide detective. We get a first hand account of Holes’ experience catching the Golden State Killer. Holes does an exceptional job of placing the reader into the scene, experiencing what Holes experienced - the details down to the very music playing. He also illuminates the consequences of being called to a profession that typically features long hours, and gruesome scenes. Overall, I appreciate the detail and Holes’s candor. The book is well written and keeps you turning the page for more.
