I have not read the series prior to reading Unholy Murder. The setting in London was unexpected, and a pleasant surprise. I did have some trouble trying to decipher the slang, but overall the book was a quick, interesting read.
The plot centers around a detective that is investigating a coffin that was uncovered during construction. Some of the characters seemed to fall flat, possibly because once again, I am not familiar with the series. Overall, I enjoyed discovering the mystery along with the detective. The end wasn't predictable due to a couple of plot twists, and it was well-written.
I would've like the story to move along a little quicker, but I understand that the plot of the book has to be paced. With this being said, the book was a satisfying puzzle to unravel. For now, I'm looking forward to finding more great reads in the series.
