This is only the second book I've read of this series, so I find it harder not knowing all the history between characters leading up to this book. I'd say this is one probably best read in order, though the mystery itself was good. I like the detail and accuracy the author puts in the books in regards to the investigations. I particularily enjoy the forensics and autopsy detail. I quite enjoyed the new coroner Sam Pullen that is introduced in this book and I'd like to see more of her if I read future books. Boon is another character that I think would be interesting to follow as he matures in his career. There's several characters and each has a rich backstory and motivation in this particular case.
The mystery itself was interesting, especially because it was an old murder. This one kept me more engaged than the other book I'd read of these. Would help if I'd read more of them to truly appreciate the series.
