Decent Detective Novel
Decent detective story about a coffin uncovered by a construction crew on land that used to be owned by the Catholic Church. Enter up-and-coming inspector Jane Tennison, a capable female that has had her ups and downs with being an honest female cop in a man's general profession?
This is where the book first lost me, as there are plenty of females in law enforcement, and yet the book made it sound like a constant issue. I finally figured out that this story is set decades in the past, (several chapters in), when I also discovered that our capable Jane did not know what a microwave was, as it was apparently new cutting edge technology. It would have been nice to have a date mentioned at the beginning to avoid confusion, especially since this book wasn't published 50+ years ago.
Going on from there, I found the book to be interesting enough to keep my interest, however, I would have liked to see more depth to the character development.
