‘That poor woman. What kind of person could do that to a nun?’ Indeed. La Plante's "Unholy Murder" comes fast, right out of the gate. I loved that we jump right into the action, when two construction workers hit something solid...and metal...with their backhoe scoop. Jane and her partner Boon are throw right into the action, although initially, their boss DI Stanely doesn't seem to think they will catch the case (‘She was buried alive? Bloody hell, I wasn’t expecting that.") The first female forensic pathologist and the first laboratory liaison sergeant are sure to complicate things, or at least have their findings in doubt. I love the language LabPlante uses, as I learn so many new words, slang or not, and feel as though I'm living in England for a time! Jane is so real, she falls into the mud and when she finds out she's got a smear on her face, she realizes her partner didn't tell her about it on purpose. Oh, the politics...

Would love to read the entire book, thanks for the consideration!
