The Perfect YA Thriller for 2024
"Maybe there are worse things than dying alone."
The premise hooked me in, but I completely fell in love with Ruby's narration from the first chapter. She sounds exactly like teens today, from the squirrel moments to the overly ridiculous drama. I look forward to seeing more of her growth as the plot (and the catacombs) twists and turns.
This is a thriller at its finest, and the perfect introduction to the genre for young adult readers. The setting is inventive, with phenomenal descriptions that are enticing and addictive. I already want to know more, and I plan on researching more about the catacombs when I get the chance.
Simply put: I need more than fifty pages. Give me more, please!
PS: I already want to murder Val. She gives off such strong "white girl in a horror movie" vibes, and I hope Ruby gains more confidence to stand up to her. Sean knows what's up in hating Val.
