Thank you to Bookish First and Penguin Teen for the ARC!

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I read the whole book in one sitting. Under the Surface was the first Diana Urban book that I have read and I could not put it down. Set in the Paris Catacombs, four friends are lost in the dark maze they start being chased by someone/something out to kill them. Everyone's intentions come into question as they try to find their way out of the catacombs, and the distrust between friends builds.

Very fast pace with short chapters made it a very quick, binge-worthy, and easy read. There were a few twists that felt coincidental and predictable. Also, the romance plotline felt a little forced. But, I was absorbed enough to overlook the predictability and forced romance. The character development was very well done as each goes through their struggles and trials.

Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick read that you will not want to put down.
