Under the Surface has some challenges for me, especially right off the bat. With short, choppy sentences and some fragments as well, I never could get into the story. This type of sloppy writing sets my teeth on edge and I find my attention wandering with each line of text. Though I might have been interested in the plot and characters, Under the Surface never made it past a first glance for me. The cover art is interesting, but not enough to make me want to read more.
