The cover is intriguing, but not quite there yet

Based off first look, and info, this book seems fun and dark, and I cant wait to read it. However, the cover leaves much to be desired. It seems like it is trying for a Patterson-esk cover. It is intriguing and gives the idea that one is in Paris looking at dead people. But it also reminds me of another similar Paris set book, that did something similar with the cover. And that book (A Drop of Night), had one good moment in a rather ho hum book, and I don't want to be thinking about that book while reading this one. And that is what the cover makes me do.
