Ruby, Sean, and Val have the instant Trio dynamic that draws the reader in from the very beginning. The spooky shadows of underground Paris and the undeniable spark between Ruby and Sean are balanced beautifully by the narrative and witty banter. I love a book that opens with a flashback because I'm immediately wondering how on earth we get there, and Under the Surface hooked me with its prologue flashback. I'm dying to know what happens next, how this trio survives the legendary Catacombs, and how Ruby can chase after romance while running for her life.
