The cover is very intriguing yet not one that would immediately draw me to read it. I really base my choices of books if I am not aware or have never read any of that particular author's books, by how the cover affects me.
The story line however sounds like a really good mystery story. I enjoy the stories that start with now and go back to then. And this one looks like it starts out that way. So this was another check for me to read it.
