Not typically my type but interesting

I really like the details of the cover but don't feel that they are super obvious at first glance. I am generally not a mystery/thriller gal, but I have read books from this author before, which makes me genuinely think I could read it. I would not have realized this book was by Danielle Vega unless I scrolled down the author info, so I'm not sure I understand the choice of pseudonym here.
