Overall, this book was ok. I am not the targeted audience. The story line was mildly interesting but really didn't keep my attention long enough to really want to keep reading. It was interesting to read about some of the Nigerian language and some of their foods and I was really looking forward to reading about Genny's wedding and all the cultural aspects it would bring. It could have been a shorter book. I almost DNF'd it but continued on just to see where it went. It would make for a better tv show or movie. I am not a teenager, and this story just wasn't meant for me. I do understand the familial "drama" centered around immigrant parents wanting their children to succeed and become the best they can. That is why many of them make their way to North America. I was interested in that part of the story, but all the high school stuff really wasn't for me.
