I felt that the excerpt I originally read was good enough to make me want to read this novel. I was not disappointed at all. The story of seventeen year old Adanna Nkwachi’s journey as a teenager about to embark on a quest to search out the truth from her Nigerian parents concerning her brother Sam’s sudden departure from home.
By chance the brother and sister reunite and Adanna is eager and curious to finally get the answers she has been searching for. However, she is fully aware of the possible consequences of pursuing this avenue may bring. Adanna knew her brother was supposed to become an engineer and discovering he is now a poet has left her with even more unanswered questions. The more she reads and learns about Sam’s poetry the more she finds herself questioning all she has done with her life so far consumed as it was by a sense of duty.
