This book is just okay. It's a little stressful because all the characters are stressful, which is fine, and the culture is rich, but I'll be honest, I don't care about any of them. I know we're supposed to be able to empathize with these people who are all trying to integrate and hold onto their own culture. I get it. The views into Nigerian culture and wedding customs are fun. But at the end of the day, the main character is kind of one-dimensional and I just don't care about her. I get the heavy expectations of parents and being the uncomfortable go-between in people who won't talk to each other. I get missing a sibling because no one will tell you why they left. Maybe i am just too old to remember teenager logic, but no one here is acting anything like a mature person and it's all a little too much. Overall, this book tries really hard and it shows.
