This is not Louisa Onome's debut novel. I read her other book Like Home last year and I really enjoyed that one. I did not enjoy this one as much. They are both young adult contemporary books though so I think readers will enjoy both and I might check out her other books too. This one follows our main character Alanna Nkwachi who is seventeen. She is helping her cousin plan a wedding and feeling her own pressure about the future. She's also grieving the loss of her brother who sort of ran away from home after a fight with their parents who are now putting pressure on her. When she gets back in touch with her brother she also begins to get answers. This book felt a little predictable and I really didn't like the parents. It was also mainly about family drama which I just didn't connect with. But overall it was a heartwarming story and had anxiety representation.
