High expectations
First, thank you very much to Bookish First for the chance to read and review this book. When I first saw this book, the synopsis had me very much intrigued. I enjoy young adult novels and I especially love reading about characters that are so different than me. This book was an opportunity to learn about a different culture and to read a different point of view.
Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me.
I think what made it difficult for me was the name differences. I understood that in her culture she had one name and in school she went by another. However, I found flipping with the names very confusing. Then, other characters had the same, and that made it a difficult read for me.
I will be honest and say that I did not finish the book. I so wanted to. I had such high expectations for it. I am sure that this book has an audience for it, but I am not that person.
