I enjoyed this story overall!

I think the concept is really relatable (at least to me)--a Black girl who is set out to become a lawyer to make her parents happy. Because "that's what she's good at". There's no doubt that I saw myself in Ada, as well as in other members of my family. Not only in the sense of wanting to please my parents, but also in the sense of being a minority at a mostly white school, and having to do whatever it takes to fit in and hide your differences.

While I'm not Nigerian, I still really appreciated the exploration of the Nigerian culture.

I thought Ada and her parents were well developed characters and I liked reading about their dynamic. I wish we could've seen more of her relationship with her brother.

The plot kind of dragged in some places; I thought the pace could be faster in some places. But I'm still glad I had a chance to read this book.
