This book instantly drew me in to the family dynamics and an exciting family wedding with a wealthy fiance who lives in Lekki, a city in Nigeria that just happens to be known for incredibly expensive real estate. Yet there is also an undercurrent of things that are going to be emotional. Ada's parents asked teachers to call her Sophie when they grew tired of the wrong pronunciation (it's a short a sound at the front, not A like in hay), and while Ada/Sophie has adjusted to that, she also realizes that she has to use what she calls her "white voice" to really fit in. There are diverse characters in this book and concerns about cultural appropriation. This book is calling to me !!
