Gotta love the contemporary and modern voices in YA
I appreciate the richness reflected in today's YA offerings and Twice as Perfect hints at a story that might include themes that we've seen in many books over time, but using more contemporary voices. Even in this short first impression, there are hints about some of the challenges and dilemmas she'll face between her familial expectations (her Nigerian heritage and culture) with her teen Canadian life (academic pressures, debate tournaments, friendships with others from different racial backgrounds, etc.). I think this would make for a great audiobook as well!
