Gil goes to a school for a better future through the school's robotics program. He fights against the administration, and students to be looked at as equal after meeting the so called "golden boy" on his first day. His scholarship is suspended after getting in a fight with this boy on the first day, but he continues to persevere. This book me a little longer than usual to read but it was interesting reading about his neighborhood and his nearby environment. The way people acted toward Gil was concerning but I felt like the writing had real emotion and feelings. He struggles to balance family life with his mission and a romance with a girl he’d fallen for is not certain. It is inspiring to see his friends support him throughout his struggles and Gil is definitely strong-willed. I would recommend the author's debut novel but the YA aspect is clear.
