The cover first looks like it's gonna be a graphic novel, obviously it's not- but I guess it's supposed to mimic the graffiti style art that is seen in most cities. I'm not familiar with Brooklyn, but it reminds me of the street art in New Orlean's and even some parts of downtown Houston.
I loved how immersed the author made me feel. Everything is written from Gil's perspective, and I was able to feel that sense of not belonging when he starts his new school. He finds his comfort zones there, sure, but you know his struggles are about to begin, now that he's about to juggle two separate lives.
I am interested in Gil's story now, and I want to know how he makes out in his new school, and hopefully it doesn't change him too much.
