I enjoyed reading the first few chapters of “True, True”. Family separation, true friendship, imposter syndrome and the will to succeed are just a few of the themes that were addressed during the opening pages of this book.

Gil and his family are sacrificing a lot in order for him to chart a new path at Augustin Prep. Starting a new school is difficult for any student, but doing so during your senior year, surrounded by people who don’t look like you and who have preconceived notions about you is particularly difficult. Despite these obstacles, Gil moves forward with purpose and a drive to succeed.

I admire Gil’s willingness to sacrifice the comforts of all that is familiar to pursue his dream. I look forward to reading this book and seeing how Gil’s story ends.
