Paloma wants to follow in her abuela's footsteps and become a well-known medium to celebrities. After moving across the country, Paloma comes up with a plan to make a name for herself and impress her abuela - mainly by hosting séances at her new school. Then a reading doesn't go as planned, and she must find a way to fix the resulting mess.
this was such a fun middle grade read! Paloma is a twelve year old Cuban American girl whose ambition and enthusiasm is clearly conveyed throughout the story. my favorite part was the relationship between Paloma and her younger sister - it felt so real, and it very much reminded me of my own relationship with my younger sibling. i also appreciated her relationships with each of her family members, particularly her abuela and mom, and how they grew throughout the story.
