Paloma has just discovered that she's a medium, just like her Abuela, and loves to watch her Abuela in action! She's even hoping that she can tour with Abuela this year, now that her own talent for communicating with spirits has come through. But after interrupting Abuela's reading for a family friend, Paloma realizes she's got a lot to learn. And with her family's impending move, she can't imagine how she's going to learn what she needs to know from Abuela!
This book has all the tenants of being my kind of book. I love books about family history (and family secrets!) and passing along and learning about magical abilities. Add in some ghosts, and a little bit of mayhem, and I'm always going to be all in. It has a little bit of an "Encanto" vibe early on, too, though it seems that Abuela here is more kind to her whole family, and not just the ones that manifest special abilities.
I was totally sucked in to the story on the very first page!
