This was alright. I think it was probably just a little too middle grade for my reading taste. The premise was good but the character development and world building was lacking. I’m not even sure I’d recommend it to a middle schooler to read, it was just kind of lackluster. I feel like even at a middle grade reading level there could have just been some more development and it would have been better. And the resolution to the conflict felt forced, something that we had been told was not true the entire time ended up being true and that’s not how I like a resolution to occur. It should make at least some sense and this just did not. The fact that it had to do with a prominent character did not help the situation at all either. In all honesty that is the thing that brought this from a 3 star read to almost a 2 star read, it just did not make sense at all. Especially with what we do know of the characters.
