Wow, "Totally Psychic", by Brigid Martin was a wonderfully written YA read! As an elementary teacher in an inner-city school, I'm always looking for age-appropriate books for my students. Having diversity in my classroom library, is a major plus. The words, font and double spacing used, also helps the students that are struggling readers. The plot was well thought out and would definitely hold the interest of YA readers. I loved how the characters were portrayed. The main character, Paloma, was written in a realistic fashion. She follows the rules at times, but also finds herself bowing to peer pressure, wanting to be liked by her classmates, feeling insecure at times about her special powers, and getting along with her younger sister, this is just listing a few of her trials and tribulations. Her family dynamic also has its ups and downs which makes this a more realistic read. If you are looking for a great YA read, I would definitely recommend "Totally Psychic"! I'm looking forward to reading additional novels by Brigid Martin.
