The correct rating to this book for me, is 4.5 stars. Not quite a 5 star because I felt like some things were missing but definitely more than a 4 star. I really enjoyed the writing and the story. It was fun getting to know a family of brujas. I loved that each member had a different type of magic to them. Even though this book is in the juvenile genre, I think anyone who enjoys magic and witches, would get a kick out of this.
Paloma lived in a house with all her family. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course her own parents and sister. Her dream was to go on tour with her grandmother who happens to be a very famous medium. But her parents had other plans. They move their family to California, which Paloma isn't happy with. I understood Paloma being upset with the move because I would've been the same way. Leaving everything I know and love to start somewhere new.
To prove to her grandmother that she has what it takes to go on tour with her, Paloma starts doing some reading on her. It was fun seeing how she went about it and some of the things she got into. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this series!
