I have some trouble with middle grade on a personal level, but I try to find good new ones for my kids, and this seems like it would fit the bill! I love the cover and the concept, and I am an absolute sucker for a grandma/grandchild relationship, so this earns extra points for that. Also love the Cuban cultural elements, and incidentally, Paloma is one of my favorite names ever so that is an extra plus!
