The cover is awesome! The girl is so adorable. The synopsis sounded great! The Family Tree is a nice touch.
When the little Paloma is taking, she sounds just like she should, a little girl. But...… , some of the narration is more grown up sounding. They don't seem to jive together - which through me - who is this story for 8-10 year old's or 11-13 year old's?
My personal opinion: Not all of us know Spanish. So, please give us definitions at the front of the book. I had to look up pastelitos (apparently small turnovers made with a thin dough). They sound delicious.
So, for me, it's a pass.
