If you're looking for a book with gorgeous, poetic writing and atmosphere, this is it. I wanted to take this book and use it to decorate my home. The characters are fun and have differing personalities. And I didn't see the book ending the way it did (I loved the ending).

I think unfortunately the focus is on the stylistic writing and it leaves the plot a little lacking and thin. There wasn't enough time for the relationship between Wil and Elwood to be fleshed out and the enemies to lovers storyline feels a little forced and out of character. There are a few side characters that I wish had been more developed (specifically Ronnie and the storyline with her mother) and the church/cult's backstory and lore would have added an element of horror that seemed to be missing. We see some of it, however, I feel like we should have known more.

Spoiler:
The ending however. I loved the ending. I loved the way Elwood's new form is described and how he ends up finding himself. Not to mention that the love story isn't a traditional happily ever after
