This book was terrible. It felt like a short story was stretched to become a novel. A lot of flowery language is used to describe the character's feelings but very little actually happens in terms of plot. I couldn't like any of the characters and none of them seemed to be fleshed out. There is a lot of unnecessary attrition between everyone in the book which feels forced and boring. Throughout the story there is a sense of mystery that is being built and when you get to the end the payoff is unfulfilling and you can't really get yourself to care. The romance is imposed and pops up at times where you would think that should be the last thing on anyone's mind. I did like that the story was told from two different perspectives and enjoyed Elwood's viewpoint more engaging. The only reason I haven't given this book a one star is because I managed to finish it.
