I don’t know why, but I’ve been in a mystery mood lately. I’ve had so many dark and scary books that this one just seem to fit the bill.
Right off the bat, the spooky cover set the best tone. One of murder and mayhem. One character, running from his impending death of the hand of his father, another, trying to prove the murder of her mother. These two characters created such an enticing duets, but I couldn’t help I want more.
The “cult” was a lot. I found myself having to stop every once in a while to question WTF IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING HERE?!?! The characters seemed to share that opinion, more often than not.
This book did read fairly fast, so there wasn’t a lot of time for plot development. Once something was established THINGS HAPPEN NOW. That was both good and bad, but to be expected of a debut author.
The ending tore out my heart and stopped on it, but that’s fine. I’m still not over it. Overall, a great read.
