In this story we follow Wil and Elwood

Wil and Elwood used to be friends, but now Wil is busy looking for her missing mother, and Elwood is busy being basically neglected and deprived of a normal childhood by his dad's religious cult. Just typical friendship things
One night Elwood finds out that the cult is planning to sacrifice him... this feels like a spoiler but it's quite literally the entire synopsis so I guess not lol. He finally gets a little bit of independent thought and decides to run for his actual life. And runs straight into Wil, and not metaphorically
But since she has a heart she can't leave him for dead to be found by his shitty family and church so she takes him in and stuff
And that's kinda... all there is to the story. It takes place over the course of pretty much a week or so, if not less, and follows Wil and Elwood while they're on the run and also while they're making up for lost times as friends... or... more (smirky emoji)
The writing was really beautiful but the story just didn't inspire any kind of awe in me. The ending was like.... fucking weird. I just don't feel like I gained much from this story. However I'd read more from this author because I did enjoy the writing style and I liked Wil and Elwood's relationship well enough. There was even some light humor here and there which I can appreciate.
