Interesting concept, disappointing execution

I'd rate this as 2.5-3 stars. I was so excited to check this one out, as I love anything gothic and culty, and horror + romance are some of my favorite genres to ready, so something advertised as horromance? Count me in!

Unfortunately, this didn't quite live up to expectations for me. It was a short read, which was good in that it only took up a couple of hours, but bad in that it felt like the story could have used some more expansion.

I wasn't particularly attached to any of the characters, and while I usually like a nice boy MMC who's in touch with his emotions, this guy cried like 5 times, which was a lot for me.

The cult portion was very heavy-handed and brief, and for such an interesting concept/motivation, the actual cult and their dialogue felt very generic. I was waiting for a twist that didn't come.

The ending could have been cool, but after such a long lead-up process, it was a little frustrating that things wrapped up so quickly and with less explanation than I was hoping for.

I ultimately thought the writing in this was pretty but the story was not satisfying.
