Gothic romance has never failed me, and it definitely didn't start now. Neither did friends-to-lovers, one of my favourite tropes ever.

There are many trigger warnings in this story, such as abuse, alcoholism, corruption and cultism.

When Will, our female main character, suspects the Clarke family to be responsible for the disappearance of her mother, she begins stalking them to find the answer for the breaking apart of her family. Her friendship with Elwood, our male main character with paranormal abilities that has him questioning his sanity, is lost due to a wrong choice on his part, but they soon reunite when they must team up to help each other against the others.

Overall, a great, captivating story with a riveting writing style that has you hooked from the first page. The gothic, paranormal horror story concludes with a bittersweet ending that has you wishing for a bit more, but it was lovely read while it lasted.
