I was really drawn to this because I had seen a comparison to Together We Rot to Ava Reid's A Study In Drowning. I read the latter earlier this year, and really enjoyed it. I am normally not a horror person, but I liked the vibe Reid had in her book, so I figured I would give this one a chance.

Together We Rot was very different from how I expected it to go, especially since everyone had been comparing it to A Study In Drowning. Where Reid's book felt WET, Arndt's was just bloody. I did not get the same vibe. I read through in one sitting, and I did find this to be a quick, fast paced adventure on grief and cults.

I really appreciated how Arndt described grief in this book. Both Wil and Elwood carry it, eventually accept it, but only one is able to move on. I appreciated the melancholy ending and I wish more authors would be brave enough to end their books so.
