This would be a fantastic book for reluctant readers who enjoy the genre. The intricate cover should get them interested before they even pick up the book, and the dark, intense plot will keep them reading. It's clear from the title and cover that this book will be horror, but I was surprised by the level of depth to the various relationships that occurred within the book, especially the friendships and family relationships. The writing was also really good, which is not always the case for books in this genre. The author did a great job of creating a weird and creepy atmosphere, especially in the forest. It was a quick read, but I almost wished that it wasn't because I really enjoyed the character development (although being a fast read is part of what makes it such a good fit for reluctant readers). Maybe a sequel? I'm looking forward to more from this author. It was a great first book.
