I wasn't too sure about this one at first, but I was intrigued by the cover and title so I thought I'd go ahead are read the first look. There are a few things that initially caught my attention. First is the characters. Within the first 10 pages, there are several characters that are introduced with their character traits on full display. As a reader who values character and character development, I appreciated this. These characters come across as loudly passionate. It felt that the characters from Wil to Ronnie to Lucas have extreme personalities. They have something to prove, and a whole lot of baggage built up that will only lead to more explosive interactions and the plot moves forward. There is a desperation and a nothing to lose attitude that means any number of things can happen.

The second thing was that there are multiple POVs in the book. This is one of my favorite structural elements in a book. While we see Wil's character quickly develop in chapter 1, we are able to see Elwood's character begin to take shape in chapter 2. These characters are very different, yet there are foundational elements that is what will ultimately draw them together. The potential that this book has with these two characters driving the plot is what has me sold and eager to read the entirety of the book.
