Where do I start? Christopher Paolini was a hero of my childhood. The four books that made up the Inheritance Cycle where an escape I desperately needed as a young teenager. After The Inheritance Cycle, Christopher Paolini took nearly a decade to write another book. I can't describe the anticipation I felt knowing that he was back at it! I bought TO SLEEP IN A SEA OF STARS on it's release date and quickly set into reading it. I read. And I read. And I read. I put the book down for two months. It was so boring. It was wordy. But most importantly, it was BORING. It was wordy. The main character spent half the book sleeping. Paolini had some very interesting ideas in here, but unfortunately they weren't expressed in a way that was at all entertaining. I loved the ideas of a ship mind and the exo-suit the main character was forced into wearing. Too bad the rest of the book was so dull and lackluster.
