Science-heavy with good characters
I enjoyed the excerpt from To Sleep in a Sea of Stars and, by the end, was left with a strong desire to pick up the full book.
The first page threw me a bit because the language was very science-oriented and I thought that maybe the book would be too heavy in the sci-fi genre for me. Typically, I read a lot of contemporary, thriller, mystery, and light sci-fi.
However, as I moved into the story, the characters became the focus and the language got a little less dense/more casual. Science was never in the back seat, but I was okay with that - it worked. I'm already attached to the character we follow in the sneak peek, Kira. The author accomplished making me ask, "what happens next?" I want to know! I'll be adding this book to my 'want to read' list today.
