This book was incredible! A true space opera, the book takes you from one planet and system to another, with details beyond anything I’ve recently read. Paolini has brought to sci fi the same plot-filled adventure as he did to fantasy with Eragon. The story is set hundreds of years into the future, when humans have control of gene modifications and space travel. Humans have largely left the Earth and are exploring deep space for other living creatures. Kira, a scientist, is on a mission to explore a different planetary system when she makes an accidental discovery that joins her with an alien life form and changes the course of her future as well as the future of humanity across the known universe. Paolini’s book is filled with intense scientific exploration and detail, and the plot never stops moving even though the book is over 800 pages long! If you like intense, fast-moving, science-heavy sci fi, this one’s for you!
