Wow! I finally finished this beast.
There really isn't much new about this story. It's the alien war that started due to a misunderstanding that our hero needs to clear up to bring both sides together and live happily and peacefully ever after trope.
It started out pretty compelling. It must have because it would have been really easy to DNF a book this big if it didn't grab me right from the beginning. That said, I really cannot recommend it to anyone. It just kept getting sillier and sillier, didn't really go anywhere, and there was absolutely no reason why it was so darned long. The author could have easily cut 500 pages out and not changed the story in any significant way.
It starts out fast enough but really drags after the first 100 pages. I was really disappointed since I really like other books by this author. If this was meant to be his magnum opus, it fell flat.
