I enjoyed this first extract and am interested to see what direction the story takes in the rest of the book.
The introduction of the character and the world built around her made me care about Kira, Alan and their colleagues and so this increased the tension as we moved into the latter part of the extract.
Most of the time, the world building was well integrated into the events rather than one large info dump which I appreciated. There were some points when I felt the characters actions were overly described (e.g. detail of every step of an action) which lost my interest a little but I was able to push past those sections. Overall, I enjoyed this extract and it left me wanting to read more.
