This is a science fiction book that creates a giant new world with so many twists and turns. It incorporates a lot of elements of some of my favorite science books, movies and tv shows. The world building is extensive and beautiful. It is set in the future, but close enough that you can easily imagine what the world is like. As a scientist, the explanations of the science are appropriate, unlike a lot of other science fiction books where the science is often unrealistic. I listened to this on audiobook even though I own the hardback, due to the size of the book. This was one of the caveats that some much happens in the one book, it seems like breaking it into multiple books would be beneficial to the reader to keep track of the various pieces of the universe. Overall, it was a wonderful journey through a brand new world that I can't wait to return to.
