I enjoyed reading the Inheritance Cycle and so when I heard that Christopher Paolini was coming out with a new book, this time a science fiction one, I was really excited. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is a very big book but it was really good! At the end, there are extra bits about the book and I thought it was cool that Christopher has been working on various versions of this book for many years. The details in it about space and the how space travel works really show that.

This book had lots of technical bits (which were still pretty interesting) but there was also no shortage of action starting after Kira finds the alien monument and the mysterious xeno. There are sad bits (a bit heartbreaking really) but Kira proves to be a very strong character and she has good allies in the crew of the Wallfish and even Soft Blade (when they work things out). This story took several unexpected turns and I enjoyed them and this whole book!

Do not be turned off by the size of this book. It is a fun adventure and I really would not mind if there was another book with Kira and her further journey to fix the past mistakes.
